What is a Screening?

Screen for Success is a way of getting information on the growth and development of children. The child’s hearing, speech/language, vision, health/nutrition, behavior and overall development will be checked by a professional that is knowledgeable in early childhood.

Upon arrival, families will be checked in and paperwork reviewed. Caregivers will have an opportunity to discuss concerns and screening options. Information is gathered from the parent/guardian, observing the child, and giving the child a brief set of tests. The results give the caregiver a general idea of whether the child is growing and developing at the level expected for his or her age group. The screening itself is not an evaluation and does not result in scores or IQ information. Each child will leave with a Kid Kit folder of community resources and basic developmental information as well as the results of the screening. A follow up call may be made to ensure that all questions have been answered.
